The Bermuda Shark Project
The Bermuda Shark Project
Welcome to the Bermuda Shark Project
We are an independent research programme with the simple aims of discovering more about the Tiger Shark. We satellite tag Tiger Sharks that are caught and released within the territorial waters of Bermuda. The tags are paid by the generous support of our sponsors (please visit the sponsors page).
The project started in 2005 and rapidly developed. In 2008 we started to use satellite tags as well as NOAA number tags. By the 2010 season we saw over 20 sharks tagged and transmitting data about the shark movements.
Within this site you will information about the project, the people and partners involved, and most importantly, the sharks. Use the links at the top of the page to navigate the site.
If we, each with our own different approaches, can work together to replace some of the fear of sharks with fascination then we may be able to redress just some of the damage we are doing to them.
